It came to my attention this morning upon returning from vacation that at some point the district opened Skyward and some parents were able to view their childrens' schedules for a couple of days. The master schedule is not finished at this point and will not be done until right before orientation so if you saw a schedule on Skyward please do not assume it is complete as we are still working on it! Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Please take a moment this evening to double check with your child to see if they have any textbooks that need to be returned. If so, please return these books to Mr. Hilliard in the cafeteria before school.
Downing Middle School is introducing a new kind of yearbook that includes information that happens after the yearbook goes to print, thanks to Augmented Reality and the app Aurasma.
After state-mandated testing each spring, parents and students are accustomed to receiving a Confidential Student Report (CSR) which shows whether or not the student met the passing standard on state assessments and explains the test results. The STAAR Math tests given this spring assessed students with the revised Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for math. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has not set the passing standards for the STAAR 3rd- 8th grade Math assessments your student participated in this spring. TEA has stated that we should receive reports to send home to parents in Fall 2015. We will send the results of your student’s assessments to you as soon as LISD receives the results from TEA.
Students should get their applications to the Athletic Office by Friday May 29 to
ensure processing before the summer break.
