DI Tournament Scheduled For Saturday 2/28 Is Postponed
The DI Tournament scheduled for Saturday at RL Turner has been postponed. Details concerning a new date and start time are being worked out with the CFB Administration and are being updated on the regional website at www.tvncdi.org.

Parents please provide us with mid year feedback on your child's experience at DMS.
An earlier parent feedback survey this year indicated that homework was a top concern. In response, we have held grade level meetings and trainings to review your feedback and address this concern.
DMS PTA “Life Lesson’s” Scholarship Program 2015
Once again the DMS PTA will be awarding a $500 college scholarship to a Marcus Senior.
The requirements for the scholarship are:
1. They must be a DMS alumni
2. 3.0 or higher GPA
3. Applicant or family must be a member of PTA or PTSA
4. Applications due Friday, 4/24 at 4:30pm.
If you know of a deserving High School Senior, from Marcus (and Downing), let them know about the scholarship and the application.
2015 Summer School Information
Summer school will take place between June 11-July 2 at LHS Killough.
Lewisville ISD Schools Releasing Early Due to Inclement Weather – Feb. 27
Due to deteriorating road conditions, Lewisville ISD (LISD) will release school early today, Feb. 27. The following are dismissal and bus departure times:

• High Schools: 12:30 p.m.
• Middle Schools: 1:15 p.m.
• Elementary Schools: 2 p.m.

Parents are welcomed to pick up students prior to dismissal times. LISD employees will stay on campus until all students are picked up.

LISD’s Extended School Day program is cancelled.

All LISD events and activities scheduled for today and tomorrow, Feb. 28 have been cancelled. The Flower Mound High School girls’ Class 6A Region I Regional Semifinal basketball game has been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center in Fort Worth (5201 C.A. Roberson, Forth Worth, 76119). The winner of that game will play in the regional final Sunday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m.
Lewisville ISD Open, Operating on Normal Schedule - Wednesday, Feb. 25
Lewisville ISD will be open and operating on a normal schedule Wednesday, Feb. 25. All classes, buses and after school activities will resume on schedule today. Please watch the roads and drive carefully!
Lewisville ISD Weather Information
We want to take time to remind parents that Lewisville ISD (LISD) is constantly monitoring inclement weather situations. In the event of bad weather, we must consider the safety of all 53,000 students in our 127-square mile district when making decisions about school closures. LISD administrators will determine school cancellations based on the safety of all students district-wide.

Have your children lost something at school?
Downing's Lost and Found, located in the school cafeteria, is overflowing. Please ask your child to check Lost and Found if he or she is missing anything. Items not claimed by March 3rd will be donated to Lewisville Christian Community Action (CCA).

Lewisville ISD Collects Community, Staff Input on Superintendent Search
LISD's Board of Trustees announced the list of attributes that resulted from public input sessions, focus group sessions and an online survey. Executive search firm Ray and Associates engaged LISD’s staff and community in discussions of important characteristics for potential candidates, as well as suggestions for screening and interview questions. The outreach process concluded on Jan. 29.
Attention Downing Parents - Student Safety
As warmer weather is approaching and more students are walking to and from school, please discuss with your child the safety of walking in groups and to never talk to strangers. We live in a safe community; but want our children to be aware of what is around them. As always, your child's safety is our first concern.
MHS Incoming 9th Grade - AVID Elective Applications Due 2/8
AVID Elective targets students in the academic middle – B, C, and even D students – who have the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard. These students are capable of completing rigorous curriculum but may be falling short of their potential. Often times, they may be the first in their families to attend college, but are individually determined to reach their goals!
DMS Robotics qualifies for State

DMS Robotics qualifies for State Congratulations to Mr. Warren and Diamondback Robotics. Last weekend 5 teams competed at a regional event and one of our teams qualified for state!
